Custom Design
Who doesn’t have a few pieces of jewellery lying neglected in a drawer or jewellery box because the design is no longer in style or you’re just plain tired of it? Perhaps it’s in need of repair or beyond repair….Maybe you’ve inherited items that aren’t quite “You” but you want to keep them for sentimental reasons.
We are expected to change our taste in clothing and fashion style over the years, why not our taste in jewellery as well?
Well, here’s your opportunity to give old pieces a new life!! Bring in your broken chains, gemstone rings, mom’s old wedding set, or that single earring in which you’ve lost it’s mate, and have Thom custom create something special and unique just for you!
The Process
The first step in the process is to bring in all your old gold and unwanted items and consult with one of our designers. What you have helps us determine the possibilities of what we can make for you. We also have a large selection of custom designed items in the showcases that might help you make your decision or give you ideas.
We will then sketch up an image of what the finished product will look like, and Thom will take that image and hand carve a wax for you to approve or make changes to. Once the wax has been approved, the creating can begin! Within a few weeks your new design will be ready to take home. Read below about some of the projects we have recently completed
Case Study #1

Mary was no longer happy with her wide, intricate wedding band. She felt it was outdated in design and did not do her diamonds justice. By taking the largest of her stones and raising it up in a wire head, and channel setting her smaller diamonds down one side, the difference was amazing. Not only did the diamonds appear bigger, but sparkled in a way they never had before.
Case Study #2

Kelley had a few rings she no longer wore because the gemstones were either set too high and were catching on clothing, or were just no longer her style. She wanted to simplify things and just create one wide ring that would be durable and more practical for everyday wear. She chose to set only one of her diamonds.
The catch was, she wanted it to match as close as possible to the ring her husband already had. It was no problem for Thom! She was thrilled with the result.
Case Study #3

Sylvia had many items of gold jewellery she no longer wore, some 10kt, some 14kt and some 18kt. The total weight of her collection was 41.1 grams. The average custom ring needs approximately 12 – 18 gr. of old gold, but Sylvia wanted one of Thom’s custom bangles. The amount of gold you have determines how wide and thick the finished bangle can be. Minimum amount for Thom to work with is approximate 33 gr. For this particular piece, Sylvia decided to purchase several .05ct diamonds to have gypsy set across the top.
